Startwork Client Guide

Join a team, install the client, choose your team, and start using Codex or Claude.

Startwork Client Guide

This guide is for developers. Join your team first, then install the Startwork client and use Codex (recommended) or Claude on your computer.

1. Join your team

Use the invitation link or invitation method provided by your administrator to join the team.

After joining, sign in to Startwork and confirm that you are in the correct team. If you belong to multiple teams, choose the team you are currently working in.

If you have not received an invitation, or cannot enter the team after joining, contact your team administrator.

2. Download and install the client

Download the Startwork client:

Download the Startwork client

After installation, open the client and sign in with your Startwork account.

Keep the client running. When Codex or Claude uses team models through Startwork, the client provides the connection between your account, team, and model capabilities.

3. Select the current team

After signing in to the client, confirm that the selected team is the one you want to work in.

If the wrong team is selected, model calls and usage records may be attributed to another team. Before starting work, glance at the current team name in the client.

4. Start work

After confirming the team, click "Start work" in the Startwork client.

Startwork will connect the current team's model capabilities to AI tools on your computer. You can then use Codex (recommended) or Claude for development.

Important: after clicking "Start work," create a new session window in Codex, Claude Code, or the Claude app before starting a conversation. Old windows may keep the configuration from before work was started, which can prevent model calls from working.

5. Use Codex or Claude

We recommend Codex first because Startwork has a more complete integration with Codex.

Claude can also be used, but Claude comes in two forms: Claude Code and the Claude app. Claude Code is a command-line development tool, while the Claude app is the desktop or web application. They are not the same tool, so troubleshoot according to the entry point you are using.

6. Basic troubleshooting

If the tool cannot use the model normally, check:

  • Whether the Startwork client is running.
  • Whether the client is signed in to your account.
  • Whether the correct team is selected.
  • Whether you have clicked "Start work."
  • Whether a team administrator has configured available models.

If all of the above is correct but Codex or Claude still does not work, restart Codex or Claude and open a new session window before trying again.
